Who Are We?

Sts. Clare of Assisi Council was chartered on June 26, 2001. Since then, our Council has doubled in size to 60 members.

What Do We Do?

We are a visible and active presence in our parish and in the community:

Church

We serve our parishes as:

  • Eucharistic Ministers

  • CCD Teachers

  • Lectors

  • Ushers

We are actively involved with other parish organizations, including:

  • Parish Council

  • Finance Committee

  • Legion of Mary

  • Youth Ministry

  • Choir

We provide a Color Guard for special feast days, First Communions and Confirmations.

We sponsor the "Keep Christ in Christmas" (KCIC) Christmas card campaign.

Family

We are a family oriented organization that sponsors activities such as:

  • Family dinners and outings

  • Corporate Communions

  • Parish and Council picnics

  • Christmas and Valentine socials

  • College and professional sports outings

  • Circus outings

Youth

We serve the youth of our parish and the community by sponsoring activities like:

  • Christmas and All Saints parties

  • Easter egg hunts

  • Vocation Nights and seminary trips

  • Young Man and Young Woman of the Year Awards

  • Basketball Free Throw Contests

  • Assist Eagle Scouts with their projects

Community

We reach out and serve our local community through projects such as:

  • Sponsoring blood drives

  • Distributing information about the proper use of the US Flag

  • Collecting and distributing food to needy families and seniors at Thanksgiving

  • Keeping Henderson Road clean under the Adopt-A-Highway Program

We also reach out to our brothers and sisters in need around the U.S. and the world by:

  • Working with Pedals for Progress to collect used bicycles for distribution in poor areas overseas where bicycles are a primary form of transportation

  • Collecting clothes for distribution to needy people in war torn areas

What Charities Do We Support Financially?

We provide donations to many individuals and groups in need, including:

  • Parish seminarians

  • Local area food banks

  • Pro-Life entities such as AAA Women for Choice in Manassas

  • Mentally retarded citizens of Virginia through Knights of Virginia Assisting the Retarded (KOVAR)

  • Needy families in our parish and local community

What Can We Do For You?

If you are a man, age 18 or above, and serving our parish, youth, or community appeals to you, then we may be just the organization for you. Come talk to us about joining your friends, neighbors, and fellow parishioners who have helped make our Council the success that it is.

By joining our Council, you can help us increase our level of commitment to our church, our families, our youth, and our community. We not only welcome new members, we also welcome new ideas on how we can be of better service.
