Gang
Violence Talk by
Officer
Mary Hulse Fairfax
County Police Department

On
September 22, 2005, our Council had they great honor of hosting a
presentation by Officer Mary Hulse, Crime Prevention Officer, of the
Fairfax County Police Department. Officer Hulse presented an
hour-long briefing on gangs, including definitions, histories,
symbols and markings, and ways of identifying each. Also
included in her presentation was what to do should you see either
gang members or evidence of their presence (graffiti, etc.).
The presentation is available for download below, in the form of a
1.5 MB Adobe file (.pdf). After
her presentation, Officer Hulse entertained a series of questions
from the audience. Officer Hulse expertly answered each
question asked, displaying the extent of her knowledge of gangs in
the area. Of
note is that on her way to our Council chambers, Officer Hulse saw
who she suspected were two gang members driving down School Street
in Clifton! The problem is at our front door, Gentlemen.
Let us be prepared. What
